What to do about the white stuff on the leaf (mold)?

The white stuff is the natural mold that gathers when the moisture is leaving the stem(s). The cool thing about the product is all you have to do is get a slightly damp towel and wipe it off. DO NOT soak the leaf because you will ruin it. Lightly wipe it off and the leaf will absorb the water after you let it sit for a minute. Mold on tobacco leaf stems is normal and to be expected. It usually is contained to ONLY being on the main stem, but can also be on the leaf itself from time to time. Unless excessive, it can simply be washed off or can be cut around or discarded.

The leaf is dry and hard? What am I suppose to do?

Believe it or not, tobacco leaves are actually meant to be stored dry and reconstituted with water when ready to roll. We do however mist all of our tobacco leaves prior to sending an order, and even go as far as packaging it in a bag (with holes) to retain the moisture. So generally speaking, your leaves will arrive moist. If they do arrive dry, simply moisten the tobacco with a spray bottle, wet towel, or another method before handling them too much. They will absorb the water like a slow sponge and be ready to work with in no time!

REMEMBER NOT to SOAK the leaf. Let it sit for a minute. Depending on how you have the leaf folded will depend on how much water the leaf will need to revive and open back up without crumbling. Let the leaf open on its' own. If rushed you will have multiple holes in it from when it hardened. This is what we call the "swiss cheese" effect.

How do you smoothen the texture of the leaf?

For best wrapper results, tear off desired piece. Place on smooth hard surface. With any smooth cylinder (i.e rolling pin, glass bottle, glass cup), roll the cylinder periodically over the tobacco piece until flattened. tobacco may stick onto the cylinder, just peel it off and roll.

Why does the package discolor?

When the moisture on the tobacco bleeds it sometimes stains the window.

What is the difference between a fronto leaf and other tobacco leaves?

A fronto leaf has a few basic qualities that a specific type of tobacco leaf must have. 1) It must be a whole tobacco leaf variety, 2) it must be a dark tobacco leaf, and 3) it must be a well priced tobacco leaf.

Why are some leafs lighter than others?

Leafs exposed to more sun are darker. Leafs not exposed to as much sun are lighter.

Is the taste of the leaf natural?

Yes; Depending on how long they are aged, their tasting notes can include grass, cream, butter, black or white pepper, coffee, cedar, and many others. Many Fronto wrappers give a cigar a spicy, ammoniac aroma, and this is due to the fact that tobacco leaves naturally contain a lot of ammonia. The aging process removes some of this ammonia. Lighter wrappers generally tend to be a bit peppery. Fronto wrappers tend to have a bit more of a “dry” taste than darker wrappers, as they usually don’t have very high sugar content.
