Tobacco’s Name Stained By Negligent Cigarette Companies

Tobacco's Name Stained By Negligent Cigarette CompaniesOver the last hundred years, people’s perceptions of tobacco have changed drastically. Tobacco has been demonized because of the grossly negligent behaviors of cigarette companies.

Tobacco companies insidiously hid the dangerous effects of smoking from the public, and in turn, ruined the name of tobacco, and created an inescapable stigma.

All of these facts compounded to change the public’s perception of tobacco. While tobacco use is still prevalent amongst many people, the product still carries an unnecessary stigma.

Native Americans had used tobacco for centuries before European settlers reached America. When Europeans finally reached the New World, they took tobacco back to Europe, and smoking quickly became a fashionable activity.

Years went by with no controversy surrounding tobacco.

When tobacco manufacturers finally started mass producing tobacco, however, more additives were used. Some of the uses for large amounts of additives in mass produced tobacco were legitimate, however, many were not. Some additives proved to be unnecessary, used only to make tobacco more addictive.

Even though tobacco companies were aware of the danger of these additives, they continued to use them, endangering public health.

To this day, cigarette manufacturers continue to use deadly additives. According to an article from quitsmokingsupport.com, “Cigarette smoke contains over 4,000 chemicals, including 43 known cancer-causing (carcinogenic) compounds and 400 other toxins. These cigarette ingredients include nicotine, tar, and carbon monoxide, as well as formaldehyde, ammonia, hydrogen cyanide, arsenic, and DDT”.

With the amount of deadly toxins tobacco companies use, it is a wonder that tobacco companies are still able to operate legally.
Smokers have one alternative to smoking harmful, deadly tobacco: smoking all-natural whole-leaf tobacco. All-natural whole-leaf tobacco contains no additives. Instead, natural tobacco relies on its intense taste and beautiful aroma to bring customers back.

Many smokers realize that natural tobacco tastes much better than additive-filled tobacco. Moreover, many tobacco users claim to feel much better after switching to natural tobacco.

Quitsmokingsupport.com states, “Most of the chemicals inhaled in cigarette smoke stay in the lungs. The more you inhale, the better it feels—and the greater the damage to your lungs

With natural tobacco, the user does not need to worry about additives staying in the lungs.

Hopefully, the stigma that surrounds tobacco will cease. Tobacco, as any other substance, is greatly less harmful if used properly. To use tobacco properly, users must be careful about which products they use. If more users switch to natural tobacco products, the results will speak for themself.
